Update from Carrageen Alpacas

It's been a busy year at Carrageen Alpacas. We have a herd od 13 now. We had 2 wonderfully dense dark bown boys born this pat summer. They look great. We are expecting 2 crisa in January and 3 more in May! In April we are bringing Roth ( Rothchild) from Ohio to do breeding. We are half owners of him. Our partner is Jim Barker of Sweetbriar Alpacas. You can see Roth on the Sweetbrair website. He is really something! If you are interested in a breeding just contact us to dicuss things. We hope all of you Alpaca friends are having as much fun as we are!

Future Poop Scooper!

Early spring is not a pretty time of year on our farm, but the alpacas are frisky and it was warm enough to let my other critter (two-legged kind) run amok. He chased them for a while, then cornered them. Maybe they were thinking he would go away if they ignored him? Then the boys elected Vincent (with Angus behind to watch) to approach this small creature. Wilhemina (our female ASD) was in turn, guarding Ethan. The whole experience definitely evoked much needed laughs that day.

I call this photo, "SIMPLY MAINE". One of my all time favorites. I got it on a summer day when ALL our Alpacas, and ALL our neighbor's horses and sheep we're out grazing. And BEST of all this is the view from my kitchen window. Come for a farm visit and this for yourself. And it gets even better when our babies "cria" are out "pronking" (running)!!

We just opened our farm last September. We have 6 females (two pregnant!) with 4 more coming from ohio in April. We have shown at MAPACA, Vermont, new England and Nationals. we are very much enjoying the Alpca experience. We are planning a farm store and poop fertilizer business too.
